May Home Sales Net $5.5 Million

Real estate sales for Havre de Grace, along with Harford County as a whole, took a dip in May. But both are staying fairly steady for the year. Havre de Grace real estate sales totaled about $5.5 million in May, nearly seven percent less than the same time last year and nearly 19 percent less than the previous month. Harford County sales dipped about 23 percent from last year.

On the surface, that may seem like bad news, but keep in mind last May the market was still being impacted by an active spring market from the tax credit incentive for home buyers.

Twenty-one changed hands in Havre de Grace in May, with four of those selling in 30 days, or less. In May 2011, homes in the 21078 zip code sold for an average of about $265K—about $15K more than the county average. Those properties that sold also fetched nearly 92 percent of the original price, two percent more than Harford County’s average.

If you are keeping your eye out for new listings, 48 properties hit the market in Havre de Grace in May and there are currently 195 homes to choose from.
