News Nearby: Cecil County Public Schools Closing Early

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Cecil County until 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, with 2 to 4 inches of snow and sleet expected.

• Editor’s note: Havre de Grace is under a separate winter weather advisory until 6 p.m.

Given the forecast, Cecil County Public Schools decided to close early on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

The school system issued the following statement Wednesday morning:

In anticipation of inclement weather, schools will dismiss early this afternoon.

All middle and high schools will dismiss at noon and elementary schools will dismiss at 1 p.m.

Elkton Middle School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.

There will be no afternoon pre-k or pre-school.

Morning pre-k and pre-school will be dismissed according to their regular Wednesday schedule.

All afternoon and evening activities are cancelled.
