'Oom Poppa Mow Mow': Oak Ridge Boys Delight at Tydings Park

The country quartet performed on Friday, Aug. 9, in Havre de Grace.

When the Oak Ridge Boys, headliner of the Havre de Grace Seafood Festival, took to the stage Friday night in Tydings Park, crowds were singing and swaying along to its twangy tunes against a waterfront backdrop.

Children's ensemble Baltimore School of Rock opened for the group, which is now celebrating its 40th anniversary.

According to ExploreHarford.com, approximately 1,300 tickets were sold for the event, which wasn't disturbed by the hour's worth of rain that fell over Havre de Grace Friday evening.

"I am so glad I decided to risk the rain and come to the festival," Joanna Flatt of Sapphire, NC, posted on the Oak Ridge Boys Facebook page after the show. She said she was in Maryland for work at Upper Chesapeake, and "Havre de Grace is my favorite place to get away to for walks when I'm working in MD. This concert will be a great memory for me!"

Check out this video posted on YouTube of the group performing its most popular song, "Elvira," in Havre de Grace.
