Good Cause is a nonprofit foundation that began serving the community in June 2010. So far the foundation has fed more than 100 families. Jess Bousa, executive director of Good Cause Foundation, had a vision years ago and has now made that vision a reality.
“Coffee is a common ground, it weaves itself into relationships,” he said.

Now people have a place to relax, enjoy and come together while serving a good cause.
Good Cause and the coffee house are not here to push a religious agenda but to bring awareness of the growing need through out our community and provide an opportunity to serve these needs.
It is a family-friendly experience. Bousa wants to stress the fact that “ALL are welcome here.”
The coffee shop is open once a month—the third Saturday of each month. The doors open at 7 p.m. with live music—a staple at each opening—beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday's performer will be acoustic recording artist Trevor Gordon Hall.
The coffee house will serve hot chocolate, coffee and tea as well as juice and sodas. Available for purchase are coffee mugs and bags of coffee beans. The mugs are $8 and the 8 ounce bags of beans are $8. The mugs and beans are available for purchase anytime.
All proceeds go directly to Good Cause. Some of the things that the foundation is working on for the future is an effort to celebrate and support 100 single mothers. So many community members and businesses have been generous with the foundation, donating everything from money, services, supplies and even the building itself.
Four pizza restaurants in Havre de Grace—, , and —have sent out more than 500 fliers each on their pizza boxes to raise awareness about Good Cause. The American Legion and VFW are also among the generous donators. The foundation and coffee house are located at 616 Ontario St.
It’s the only coffee house in town with community service in every cup.
