Perryville High School Presents 'Oklahoma!'

The musical will be performed at Perryville High School on April 11, 12 and 13.

Students at Perryville High School are ready to wow audiences with their rendition of the Broadway musical Oklahoma!, which goes onstage this weekend.

Director Jill Welsheimer, who teaches drama at the high school, said she's thrilled with this year's show.

“The kids I have this year just fit the roles perfectly," Welsheimer said.

In Oklahoma!, a cowboy (Perryville junior Andy O’Neill) and farm girl (sophomore Rachel Marshall) fall in love, with some challenges along the way.

A live pit orchestra—made up of retired teachers, students and other volunteers—will provide music, under the direction of music teacher Nathan Carns.

Choreographer Caron Leath put together the dance numbers, which director Welsheimer described as "lively and fun."

Perryville math teacher Kevin Forman has nearly completed the set, including one piece of scenery that functions as a house, barn and smoke house.

“We are really excited with how the set came out," Welsheimer said. "We are just adding finishing touches now..."

The show will be performed at Perryville High School (1696 Perryville Rd.) at 7 p.m. on April 11, 12 and 13.

Tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for students and senior citizens. Reserved tickets are $10 per person. To reserve tickets, call Perryville High School at 410-996-6000.
