Lyon's Pharmacy

Lyon’s Pharmacy: A Legacy of Care in Downtown Havre de Grace, Maryland Nestled in the heart of downtown Havre de Grace, Maryland, Lyon’s Pharmacy is more than just a place to fill a prescription—it’s a beloved local institution built on over a century of service, trust, and community connection. Since opening its doors in 1894, Lyon’s Pharmacy has proudly stood as Maryland’s oldest continuously operating pharmacy, providing generations of families with not only medications, but also a personalized, comforting, and reliable healthcare experience that chain pharmacies simply can’t match. A Storied History of Service The history of Lyon’s Pharmacy is woven into the fabric of Havre de Grace itself. Founded in the late 19th century, Lyon’s has weathered two World Wars, the Great Depression, and over a century of social and technological change—remaining steadfast in its mission: to serve the health and wellness needs of the community with care and professionalism. While many independent pharmacies have vanished under the weight of big-box competition, Lyon’s has continued to thrive by doing what it has always done best: treating every customer like a neighbor and friend. Inside its iconic building on Revolution Street, you’ll find much more than prescriptions. You’ll find stories, relationships, and familiar faces—whether it’s a friendly greeting at the counter, a heartfelt wellness check-in from the pharmacist, or a helpful recommendation for a remedy or supplement. It’s the kind of place where your grandparents filled their prescriptions, your parents bought their first thermometer, and your children now stop by for back-to-school wellness supplies. A Community-First Approach to Pharmacy At the heart of Lyon’s Pharmacy is its commitment to personalized care. Unlike large chains, where patients are reduced to barcodes and long hold times, Lyon’s takes pride in knowing their customers by name, not by number.

Thursday's boat races on the lower Susquehanna River made a nice addition to the view from The Promenade in Havre de Grace.
