​Phyllis J. Howk, 79, of Darlington

Phyllis J. Howk, 79 , of Darlington, died on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium.

Born on Sept. 26, 1936, in York, PA, she was a daughter of the late George Austin and Dorothy Montgomery (Doyle) McKinley and an alumni member of the former Dublin High School. In 1947, her late parents opened the popular Ballpark Diner in Dublin, and Phyllis went to work there as a cook until 1978. She then worked for various restaurants until retiring in the early 1990s.

She is survived by her son, Gary Michael Joines and his wife, Robin of Street, MD; four grandsons; her aunt, Hilda Montgomery of Darlington, MD.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.Reverend Lanny D. Kilgore of New Covenant Community Church, Delta, PA will officiate. Interment will take place in Emory Cemetery, Street, MD.
