All Hands on Deck for Pirate Fest 2013

The pirate-themed weekend drew hundreds to the Lock House.

Buccaneers and seadogs battened down the hatches for a wild ride in Havre de Grace during Pirate Fest 2013 over the weekend.

Hundreds attended the three-day-long fundraiser for the Susquehanna Museum, which had attendees running around, firing cannons and getting in skirmishes by the Lock House.

Approximately 175 people participated in a Friday night pub crawl in downtown Havre de Grace and 480 entered the Pirate 5K on Saturday, according to ExploreHarford.com.

Among those breaking a sweat was Senator Barry Glassman, who recently announced his candidacy for Harford County executive. Glassman placed fifth in his age group for his performance in the Pirate 5K. (See the complete race results here.)

There was also a Pirate Gala on Saturday night, plus pirate encampments and reenactments through the weekend.

Visitors came from far and wide for the sixth annual Pirate Fest, which took place July 12 to 14.

"Heading off to the Havre de Grace, MD pirate festival today! Now where did I put my eye patch?" Katy O'Connell of Kent County, DE, tweeted Sunday morning.

"In Havre De Grace for the Pirate Festival with the Chris Sacks Band,"" harmonica player John Hanney of the Jersey Shore tweeted Saturday night.
