ABERDEEN, MD — A police pursuit that started in Pennsylvania Wednesday morning traveled into Maryland, where two teens were arrested, according to authorities. One suspect remained at large after crashing into a marked Maryland State Police patrol car on Interstate 95 near Perryville, said officials.

Pennsylvania State Police were handling a call in that state about dirt bikes stolen from a commercial building, authorities reported. In connection with that case, the officers were pursuing two white vans, both of which turned out to be stolen from Baltimore City, police said.

From Pennsylvania, officials reported the pursuit traveled into Maryland via southbound US 1.

In Maryland, the two vans separated.

  • One went south on MD 272, then took I-95 south. Troopers from the JFK Barrack became involved in the pursuit from I-95 south at the Tydings Memorial Bridge. The van drove to mile post 82.8 in Aberdeen, where the two suspects got out and took off into the woods, according to police, who established a perimeter. With assistance from the K-9 unit and helicopter, two teens from Baltimore City were taken into custody. They were 14 and 17 years old, police said. Both were taken to the North East Barrack, where police said they will be charged as juveniles with motor vehicle theft, resisting arrest and traffic-related offenses.
  • The other van went south on MD 276, then crashed into a marked Maryland State Police vehicle at MD 222 and I-95 in Perryville. The driver of the van fled the scene afterward, and he is still at large, police reported. No troopers were injured, officials said.

Assistance with response to the incident came from the Maryland State Police Bel Air and North East Barracks, Cecil County Sheriff’s Office and Harford County Sheriff’s Office, according to Maryland State Police.
