HdG Driver Involved In Deadly Crash On Route 222: Police

Police said that a Havre de Grace man was injured and another driver died following a crash Friday night in Perryville.

PERRYVILLE, MD — An Ohio woman was killed in a crash on MD 222 near Interstate 95 Friday evening that also involved a driver from Havre de Grace, according to Maryland State Police. Both were taken to area hospitals after the collision, officials reported.

The crash happened at approximately 5:26 p.m. Friday on southbound Route 222 at the ramp to I-95 north.

Jeffrey Hoffman, 56, of Havre de Grace, had been driving south on Route 222 when his white 2018 Chevrolet Silverado hit the back of a vehicle that was stopped in the left turn lane to go onto I-95 north, police said based upon preliminary investigation.

The vehicle that was hit was a gray 2010 Honda CRV driven by Mary Frazier, 63, of Nelsonville, Ohio, according to officials. Frazier was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital, where police said she succumbed to her injuries.

Hoffman was taken to Christiana Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.

Route 222 was reportedly closed at I-95 until 7:30 p.m.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Maryland State Police North East barrack at 410-996-7800.
