What a big week this has been, and these girls are such great sports. Let me just say what they’ve been through, from what I can imagine might be their perspective. A brutal travel itinerary that includes their first time in a plane, long car ride with seat belts that they’re not used to. Many people gathered, most speaking with words they couldn’t possibly understand. Food that seems—odd. House that they’ve never seen, beds that are unfamiliar, rules they don’t get. First time seeing cats, horses, baseball and asparagus.
Even so, they have been so full of joy! I love their laughter filling my house. They come cuddle with me and Padrino (Chris) and my heart melts each time. Jeimy, the youngest, is doing a great job communicating with both me and Chris. I told her to speak slowly, so she will say, “Ma – dri – na , pue – do …” One syllable at a time. So cute! And actually, it kind of works. But I think that demonstrates remarkable patience for a 10 year old.

Interestingly, we have seen the girls get comfortable rather quickly. When they first came, they did everything together, as one. Now they sometimes separate, and I am so glad that they feel safe and free to do that.
Two big events have happened this week: The Ironbirds baseball game at Ripken Stadium, and a visit to Growing Smiles. So great! Look for posts about those soon.
