Retired HdG Police Captain John Rimel Jr. Dies at 75

John L. Rimel Jr. of Perryman died Oct. 25 at home. He was 75. He was born in Clintonville, W.V., the son of the late John L. Rimel Sr. and Hattie M. Cassell Rimel.

He was a retired Captain from the Havre de Grace Police Department after 35 years of service. He was also a member of the Maryland National Guard. He was an avid hunter and crabber.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Norma L. Strong Rimel; his daughter Karen Berger and family, of Havre de Grace; his son Michael Rimel and family from Havre de Grace; and daughter, Missy Mitchell and family from Perryman.

A remembrance will be held 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Havre de Grace Community Center, 100 Largaret LN, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
