Robert W. W. Hutchison died at the Morningside House of St. Charles in Waldorf, Maryland, on March 28, 2016. He was 94.
Mr. Hutchison was born in Summit, N.J. He was the husband of the late of Betty Ann Mentzer Hutchison of Havre de Grace, whom he came to know through attendance at the Young People’s Group of the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, Young People’s Sunday Meeting.
He was 20 when he was called to active service during World War II with the United States Navy/ Coast Guard.

After his discharge from the service, Mr. Hutchison accepted an appointment from Princeton University, and the couple lived there until he graduated.
Following graduation, the couple lived in Havre de Grace, while Mr. Hutchison was employed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, and where their three sons Christian, Kim and Dana were born.

After his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy he became Civil Service as a Personnel Officer assignment at White Sands Missile Range. He then transferred to the Army Ordnance Personnel Office at the Pentagon, from which the family moved to Silver Spring and Mr. Hutchison was honored by assignment as one of the Founding Officers of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. He was also employed with the Library of Congress as Personnel Director in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Laura M. Hutchison, Emily Hutchison, Jackie H. Mitlo, Christian Hutchison, Jr., Holly H. Galdo, Benjamin Hutchison and Jeremy Lyon. He was the great-grandfather of Vinni & Allison Hutchison, Kelly Scanlo, Kaysie & Leann Galdo, Kason & Talon Lyon. He was the brother of the late Walter & Doris Hutchison.
Everyone knew him as a loving father and grandfather and he deeply loved his wife. He was a member of the American Legion and the Washington Literary Club.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 S. Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, where a funeral service will be held at 12 p.m.
Officiating will be Pastor Norman Obenshain.
Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery.
