Safety First: Havre de Grace High School After Prom
The high school is planning its first after prom party to ensure students have a safe place to continue celebrating.

Havre de Grace High School wants their students to be safe at all times, including after prom.
With that in mind, the school is planning it's inaugural "Safe After Prom Event," according to an announcement on Patch. The high school is currently the only one in the county not to have an after prom event of this kind.
"The Junior/Senior Prom is such [a] wonderful event for most students; however it can also be a night of devastation, due in part to students finding unsupervised after prom parties," a letter from the Havre de Grace High School Safe After Prom Committee states.

The event will take place at The Arena Club the night of May 4 from 11:30 p.m. 3:30 a.m. and will serve as an alternative to unsupervised parties.
While the club offers swimming, fields and plenty of space, the school would also like to provide food, a DJ and rental games for entertainment, the letter says.

The committee aims to raise between $6,000 and $10,000 to fund the event. Checks can be made payable to HHS PTSA memo line Safe After Prom Event, and mailed to the high school at 700 Congress Avenue.
