Second Consecutive HHS Alumnus to Serve as County Executive
Senator Barry Glassman graduated from Havre de Grace High School in 1980.

The day after voters took to the polls, Harford County Executive David Craig met with county executive-elect Barry Glassman to discuss the transition between their administrations, according to a statement from Harford County government.
Craig is term-limited and is finishing up his second-and-a-half term in office. He was initially appointed county executive in 2005 after James Harkins resigned to become the Maryland Environmental Service director.
Now, after nearly a decade in office, Craig—who graduated from Havre de Grace High School in 1967—is passing the torch to another Warrior.

Glassman, of the class of 1980, will take the oath of office as county executive before the year’s end. He has been representing Harford County on the Maryland senate since 2008.
During their meeting Wednesday, Craig and Glassman toured the Harford County administrative offices at 220 South Main Street in Bel Air and—to facilitate continuity of county business—Glassman signed the printing plates used to authorize checks issued by the Treasury Department, according to a statement from Harford County government.

Glassman will take over as county executive on Dec. 1, 2014.
