Shiny New Things on Tap at Coakley's

The pub's owners are decking the walls.

Coakley's Pub is getting a makeover that co-owner Margie Logan hopes will set the bar apart from the adjacent restaurant of the same name.

"Right now, it has a pub feel," Logan said, standing next to ladders and tools in the bar, whose decor echoes that of the restaurant a few steps away.

"We want it to have more of a club feel," Logan explained.

The project began Monday and as of Thursday afternoon, metal sheets covered parts of the walls, imbuing the bar with more edge. The light fixtures were also being changed and walls repainted.

Logan anticipated the work would be complete by Dec. 5. She said the pub will reopen Saturday.
