SIGN: Concord Street Property Next to Lighthouse
New signage explains a ballot question to Havre de Grace citizens.
Havre de Grace Mayor Wayne Dougherty said he wanted to make sure citizens were aware of the ballot question regarding a possible property transaction on Concord Street.
To that end, Dougherty had a sign made that contains both the ballot language and his vision for the area.
The sign was recently installed at 701 Concord St., which is the property in question, on a fence next to the lighthouse. It says the following:

This property is being considered for purchase by the city of Havre de Grace. The following ballot question will be voted upon in the May 7, 2013, local election.

Question B
The mayor and city of Havre de Grace propose to purchase the real property known as 701 Concord Street in Havre de Grace which is comprised of four lots between Concord Street and the Chesapeake Bay adjacent to the lighthouse. The purchase price is $1,290,000. The city appraisal for the property was $1,300,000. A deposit of $40,000 was paid to the seller with the remainder to be paid over a period of 25 years with interest at 4 percent pursuant to a city note and/or bond. Settlement is to occur on or before January 1, 2014. The Mayor and City Council intend to transform the property into a city waterfront park.
