Spokesman: Royal Farms Will Be Complete In 2 Weeks

Weather and utility connections cause delays for downtown convenience store's remodeling.

Havre de Grace residents eager for the return of the city's store will be glad to learn that renovations should be completed soon.

A spokesman for the company told Patch Tuesday morning that the Havre de Grace store should be open "in about two weeks."

The modernization of the convenience store chain's Store No. 69, which was , "has been delayed."

Company spokesman Ed Stronski said the weather "is part of the reason for the delay. We were waiting for BGE to upgrade our natural gas service at that location. As soon as that is completed, the store is scheduled to be opening, again, in two weeks."

In August, Stronski said Royal Farms purchased an adjacent property in order to expand the store, located at the corner of Juniata and Revolution streets.

Patch first reported in June that the store was undergoing an expansion and renovations, and that chicken would be served once the store was finished. At the time, an estimated date of completion was late July.

The changes will bring the Havre de Grace store up to par with the other 135 stores in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Pennsylvania. The majority of Royal Farms stores offer chicken—including those in Aberdeen, Port Deposit, Bel Air and Churchville, according to the Royal Farms website.
