State, City, County Officials Fill In Opera House Fundraising Thermometer

Officials marked the fact that they have helped raise $750,000 of the $3 million needed to renovate the Opera House on North Union Avenue.

In a ceremony Tuesday morning outside the 143-year-old building, the city and newly formed Opera House Foundation installed a thermometer to keep tabs on fundraising.

State Delegate Mary-Dulany James filled in a spot for the $250,000 bond she helped secure for the project from the state of Maryland. Harford County Executive David Craig and County Councilwoman Mary Ann Lisanti added a marker for the $250,000 the county provided. Finally, Havre de Grace Mayor Wayne Dougherty and former Economic Development Manager Meghan Simmons put up the $250,000 the city contributed.
