The State Theater Opens In Havre de Grace
A new live entertainment venue is open on Saint John Street.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The State Theater has officially opened in Havre de Grace.
"We have occupancy!" the owners posted Thursday on The State Theater Facebook page.
The building on Saint John Street was recently renovated and will host live entertainment events.

According to its current owners, the building used to be a movie theater in the early 20th century. Then, for a brief spell from the 1990s to early 2000s, it was a church.

While they kept the name of the old movie theater, the operators say they plan to rebrand it as the "premier destination for live entertainment, the likes of which this region has rarely seen."
Here are some upcoming events:
- 6 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 — The New Brigade concert; tickets are $10.
- 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29 — Big Timing Comedy: Standup: Stefan Subotich
- 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3 — Live music for the first First Friday of 2020
