The multi-vehicle crash Monday afternoon is still being investigated. Two drivers, including a Maryland state trooper, were hospitalized.
A crash on Interstate 95 that required an injured trooper to be airlifted from Cecil County Monday afternoon remains under investigation, police reported Tuesday.
Police responded to the scene on I-95 at 3 p.m. Monday when the trooper, who was on duty and driving an unmarked Chevy Tahoe at the time, pulled to the side of the highway in the area of state highway 272 to respond to the report of an accident. The trooper, who has not been identified, was sitting in the vehicle awaiting assistance to clean up debris from the highway when the man driving a Nissan Armada struck the back of the trooper’s vehicle.
According to the state police, a third vehicle then struck the Nissan, which caused the trooper to be injured. The trooper was airlifted from the scene to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for the treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Nissan was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and the driver of the third vehicle was not injured.
