Suspected Drunk Driver Hits House: HdG Crime

Man tries to take ambulance, vacant homes targeted by burglars and other crimes were reported to the Havre de Grace Police Department.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – The Havre de Grace Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

A 26-year-old was charged with DUI, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and reckless driving after his vehicle jumped the curb and hit a house in the 500 block of Otsego Street. There were no injuries as a result of the crash, which happened just after midnight on Saturday, May 7.

A 19-year-old is facing charges after he and a group of juveniles were found riding dirt bikes on Ferdinand Drive at approximately 1:15 pm. on Monday, May 9. Police said the teen was stopped after a short pursuit and charged with reckless driving, fleeing/eluding police and having an unregistered motor vehicle.

A 29-year-old woman was charged with DUI and failure to drive right of center in the 1100 block of Revolution Street at 1:28 a.m. on Sunday, May 8.

Assaults

An assault was reported in the 300 block of Lewis Lane after 4 p.m. on Monday, May 9.

An assault was reported in the 400 block of Lewis Lane at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9.

Vacant Homes Targeted

The front window of a vacant building was shattered in the 1300 block of Old Post Road at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, May 9.

A drywall sander, a Miter saw, one Makita drill and two boxes of caulking were stolen from a house that was being renovated in the 500 block of Lewis Street. The burglar broke in through the back window sometime between Friday, May 6, and Monday, May 9. There was $2,500 in damage.

A breaking and entering was reported in the 700 block of Ohio Street after 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 8. Someone had gone in through the back door and left it ajar. The house was vacant, and nothing was taken.

Burglary, Vandalism, Theft

A would-be burglar smashed the window at a residence in the 500 block of Franklin Street at 11:05 p.m. on Monday, May 9, then left the scene. Extra patrol checks were requested.

All the tires were smashed on a 1997 Monte Carlo in the 100 block of Alliance Street, reported after 5 p.m. on Monday, May 9. Total estimated value is $320.

A man was trying to steal an ambulance from the 500 block of South Union Avenue at 2:50 p.m. on Monday, May 9.

Property was stolen from the 400 block of South Stokes Street, reported at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 8.

Money was stolen from a man's pocket on the evening of Saturday, May 7, in the 200 block of Freedom Lane. The victim reported the theft the next day and said that he had let a homeless person stay with him because of the weather and after taking a nap, found the person had left and $150 in his front right pocket was gone.

A food stamp card, child support card and $50 check were taken from a silver Honda Accord in the 500 block of North Juniata Street, reported at approximately 8:55 a.m. on Saturday, May 7. The vehicle had been left unlocked.
