Table Games Roll Out at Hollywood Casino Perryville
The casino put its roulette, poker and other live gambling offerings to the test Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Hollywood Casino Perryville became the first Maryland casino to offer live table games.
Maryland voters approved the expansion of gambling in November when the issue went to referendum.
But first, Maryland Lottery officials are required to supervise the live gaming in a controlled demonstration.

Lottery and casino officials spoke to a group gathered in the casino's restaurant Tuesday night for the event, stating that the expansion of gambling in Perryville was positive for gaming enthusiasts and the economy.
Hollywood Casino Manager Bill Hayles noted that this was the first casino to open in Maryland and now it was going to be the first to have live table games.

"As you can tell, we're a little bit excited," Hayles said, speaking in the bar and grill at the casino. He said that the dining area had evolved from a buffet to a full-service restaurant, and in similar fashion, the games were about to kick things up a notch from slot machines as well.
Maryland Lottery Director Stephen Martino said that the casino was creating 140 new jobs through its expansion of gambling.
He and lottery officials were in Perryville Tuesday to ensure the new offerings were running smoothly before the casino moves into 24-hour, 7-day operation.
An announcement came over the loudspeaker: "Let the games begin," as the ribbon was snipped.
"Be generous," Hayles said to a group gathered for the ribbon-cutting. He explained the proceeds were going to the Cecil Coalition Foundation, Cecil County Help Center and Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna.
