Teen IDed As Homicide Victim: Havre de Grace Police

Police said that a 15-year-old Edgewood girl has been identified as the person who was found deceased near the woods in Havre de Grace.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD - The person found deceased in Havre de Grace on Wednesday has been identified as a missing Edgewood teen, according to police.

Maleigha Solonka, 15, was located in a wooded area in the 400 block of Webb Lane, according to the Havre de Grace Police Department, after officers were dispatched for a report of a body in the woods.

Her death was caused by asphyxiation, police said.

Solonka was last seen on Wednesday, Aug. 9, according to ABC 2 News, which reported she disappeared from the Windsor Valley neighborhood in Edgewood. Relatives told the TV station that they think her death was an act of domestic violence.

Solonka's grandmother said in an interview with WBAL that the teen stayed with her a couple of weeks ago because "she feared that someone was going to hurt her."
