Teen Charged in Fire Outside HdG Boys & Girls Club

The teen had an altercation with a supervisor, the fire marshal said.

A 16-year-old is facing charges after allegedly setting fire to a commercial-grade trash container Thursday night off Lewis Lane, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

At 7:01 p.m., four firefighters put out the blaze, which broke out in a commercial-grade trash can outside the Havre de Grace Boys and Girls Club, the fire marshal reported.

Witnesses said they saw the teen set the fire and called 911, after the teen had an altercation with a gym supervisor, the report stated.

Damage was estimated to be nearly $400, according to the report.

The teen was charged with second-degree malicious burning and burning of a trash container, the fire marshal said. He was released to his parent pending actions by the Harford County Department of Juvenile Services, according to the report. He was a Havre de Grace resident, The Aegis reported.
