Two HdG Men Charged in Thefts from Vehicles: Sheriff

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is investigating whether they were involved in thefts in another part of the county.

Two Havre de Grace men were among three people charged in a pair of vehicle thefts in Aberdeen that may be connected to other incidents in the county, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Joel Rodriguez Jr., 21, of the 100 block of Battery Drive in Havre de Grace, and Dee Laswell, 21, of the 800 block of South Juniata Street in Havre de Grace, were each charged with two counts of rogue and vagabond; theft less than $1,000; and theft less than $100, online court records show.

James Snidero, 22, of the 200 block of Temple Drive in Bel Air, was charged with the same offenses.

Rodriguez, Laswell and Snidero were in a vehicle on Witchazel Way in Aberdeen at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, that had been reported as suspicious, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was a red Subaru, for speeding, according to Kyle Andersen, spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

When officers canvassed the area, they found that two vehicles had items stolen from them, the report said. Deputies located some of the items inside and nearby the Subaru, according to the report.

The three were arrested, booked at the Harford County Detention Center and released on their own recognizance, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said its deputies are looking into whether the thefts in Aberdeen were connected to a string of thefts from vehicles in the Riverside area in the past couple of weeks.

As a result of those thefts, which occurred the second and third weekends of this month, the sheriff’s office reported on Nov. 16 that it had increased patrols in the Belcamp area. It also offered these tips to prevent becoming a victim:

  • Lock your vehicle.
  • Don’t keep any valuables in the vehicle in plain sight.
  • Keep exterior house lights on at night.
  • Call 911 if you see anything suspicious; don’t investigate it on your own.
