Tydings Bridge Crash Caused 4.5-Mile Backup: MDTA

A crash on the Tydings Bridge Saturday morning caused significant traffic delays.

A crash on the Tydings Bridge resulted in the closure of all lanes on Interstate 95 north Saturday for about an hour, officials say. Traffic was backed up for 4.5 miles, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported at noon.

By 12:45 p.m., all lanes had reopened, and officials said the crash had cleared.

The collision involved nine vehicles, according to state transportation officials. It was reported before 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

All northbound lanes were closed until noon, at which point one lane reopened.

The Susquehanna Hose Company, which was among the first responders at the scene, reported that drivers should expect overflow traffic on US 40 and MD 155 due to the incident, which was said to have trapped at least one person.

Traffic was flowing again before 1 p.m., with all lanes open on the Tyings Bridge. However, delays remained around the exit for MD 155, and congestion persisted on the bridge.
