Union Avenue Building Blaze Displaced 11 People: Fire Marshal
Havre de Grace apartment fire caused $60,000 in damage, Office of State Fire Marshal reports.

The Red Cross is assisting 11 people who were displaced after a fire on Union Avenue earlier this week rendered the building uninhabitable, the fire marshal reported.
A tenant in the basement apartment at 213 South Union Avenue discovered the fire at 6:41 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, according to the report.
Approximately 45 firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company and Aberdeen Fire Department responded, bringing the blaze at the three-story building under control within 15 minutes, the report said.

The fire marshal said the fire started in the basement apartment’s kitchen.
Smoke damage throughout the eight-apartment building resulted in the displacement of 11 individuals who lived there, according to the fire marshal.

The Red Cross was assisting those who were displaced, and the Havre de Grace Police Department was investigating the cause of the fire, the report from the fire marshal stated.
According to the report, the blaze caused $50,000 in structural damage, and there were $10,000 worth of items inside damaged as well.
