Union Hotel Restaurant Blaze Caused $2K in Damage: Fire Marshal
Crews responded to Port Deposit for fire Thursday morning, officials said.

A fire at the Union Hotel Restaurant in Port Deposit Thursday morning was ruled accidental, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported.
At 6:47 a.m., a passerby noticed there was a fire at the restaurant in the 1200 block of Susquehanna Road, according to the report.
The passerby notified the owner, who was asleep on the second floor of the two-story building, according to Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company, which arrived at the scene to find smoke showing from the back of the restaurant near the kitchen.

Nobody was injured in the incident, the fire marshal reported.
Crews from Perryville, Water Witch, Darlington and Rising Sun as well as a Cecil County paramedic unit responded, bringing the fire under control within 20 minutes, the report said.

The fire was traced to a propane water heater, according to the report.
The blaze caused $2,000 in damage, the fire marshal said.
