Warriors Revved Up for State Football Championship

Havre de Grace Warriors vie for the class 1A football title on Saturday, Dec. 5.

The Havre de Grace Warriors will vie for the class 1A state football title this weekend at M&T Bank Stadium.

The Warriors take on the Fort Hill Sentinels at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A pep rally at Havre de Grace High School on Friday helped rev up the team for the big game, complete with special championship t-shirts.

Fort Hill has won the class 1A title for the past two years, according to the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA).

The Warriors will fight to turn the tide, and have been using the hashtag #graceontop to make the point.

The last time the Warriors won a state football championship was in 1986, The Baltimore Sun reports.

More recently, the Warriors made it to the state championship in 2010 but fell to the Dunbar Poets, 22-12.

The Warriors take on the Fort Hill Sentinels at 3:30 p.m. in the class 1A football state championship at M&T Bank Stadium, 1101 Russell Street, Baltimore. Tickets are $10. Get info about stadium security, game times and parking.
