WXCY Sold To Media Group As Part Of Radio Deal: Report

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace-based country station WXCY, or 103.7 FM, will change owners. It was owned by Delmarva Broadcasting, a division of Steinman Communications of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

As part of a newly inked deal, Steinman has sold WXCY and several other radio stations to Forever Media, which is headquartered in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

Forever Media is taking over 10 stations from Steinman, according to radio industry trade publication Radio Ink:

• WXCY 103.7 FM in Havre de Grace; country
• WAFL 97.7 FM in Milford, Delaware; top 40
• WAVD 97.1 FM in Milford, Delaware; The Wave beach station
• WFAI 1510 AM in Wilmington, Delaware; faith
• WDEL 101.7 FM and 1150 AM in Wilmington, Delaware; news
• WNCL 101.3 FM in Milford, Delaware; hits
• WSTW 93.7 FM in Wilmington, Delaware; variety
• WXDE 105.9 FM in Milford, Delaware; talk
• WYUS 930 AM in Salisbury; ESPN

The radio deal was $18.5 million, according to Radio Insight.

Forever Media owns approximately 50 radio stations in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. It purchased two family-owned radio stations in 2015 in Pennsylvania and reportedly did not plan to change formats or personnel, according to Penn Live.

WXCY has been a fixture in Havre de Grace, where it has been in business 30 years next month. In 2014, the city of Havre de Grace presented the radio station with a proclamation for its 25 years of success.

The Havre de Grace radio station first went on the air on March 1, 1989, with the song "Baby I Lied" by Deborah Allen, according to WXCY.
