$25,000 Donated to Cockeysville Middle

A Cockeysville resident won $25,000 through the Discover Everyday Giveaway, and was able to select a public school to receive the same amount.

received a $25,000 donation thanks to Shahin Sajedi, who selected the public school as the recipient of the funds after winning the Discover Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes.

Sajedi, a Cockeysville resident, won the monthly prize while making a purchase at . Throughout the year, all purchases made on the Discover Network are automatically entered for a chance to win $25,000. Discover will then match that amount with a $25,000 donation to the public school of the winner's choice.

“When Discover called to say I had won $25,000 in their Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes, I couldn’t believe it at first,” Sajedi said. “To know that Cockeysville Middle School benefits from my winning is an even bigger reward. Thank you Discover.”

Sajedi's children attended the school years ago.

Cockeysville Middle Principal Deborah Magness said the money will go towards purchasing new technology for students, and supplementing the existing technology.

“We are so excited, honored and humbled by this award," Magness said. "The fact that someone can designate a public school of their choice and that we were chosen is a tribute to the teachers at Cockeysville Middle and the lasting impact they have on the lives of children. We are grateful to the Sajedi Family for recognizing our efforts in educating their children years ago."

Sajedi is the second Maryland resident to win the sweepstakes. In January, a Kent Island resident won the money, and chose Kent Island High School to receive an additional $25,000.
