Best Friends Fur Ever Launches New Website Focused on its Groundbreaking “Assisted Canine Care +” Program

The site offers resources for owners navigating the care of dogs that are elderly, recovering from surgery or addressing a new diagnosis.

COCKEYSVILLE, MD — April 30, 2026Best Friends Fur Ever, the Baltimore region’s premier dog daycare, boarding, and spa resort, today announced the launch of a new website highlighting its Assisted Canine Care + (ACC+) service, designed to bridge the gap between high-intensity veterinary hospitalization and the challenges of at-home recovery.

The new website provides comprehensive resources for pet owners navigating the care of dogs that are elderly, recovering from surgery, managing a new medical diagnosis, or seeking early intervention for mobility issues.

Unlike traditional daycare, which focuses on high-energy socialization, ACC+ is a lower-stimulation environment built specifically for senior care, healing, prevention, and peace of mind.

“Bringing a dog home after major surgery or a life-altering diagnosis can be overwhelming for even the most dedicated pet parent,” said Mary Steinebrunner, President of Best Friends Fur Ever. “ACC+ provides the clinical consistency and structured environment that is often impossible to maintain in a busy household. We follow veterinary discharge instructions to the letter, ensuring medications are administered on schedule and activity restrictions are strictly maintained. This significantly reduces the risk of setbacks and helps dogs heal more safely.”

The ACC+ program is specifically designed for dogs that are medically stable but require a level of supervision that exceeds standard boarding. This includes dogs recovering from ACL/CCL repairs, orthopedic procedures, or soft tissue surgeries, as well as those managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or neurological disorders. The program also serves as a critical tool for early intervention.

“When a dog shows subtle signs of a hot spot, a slight limp, or minor mobility changes, ACC+ provides the close monitoring necessary to catch small issues before they escalate into more serious medical concerns,” Steinebrunner said.

What sets ACC+ apart from other canine care services is its veterinary-aligned approach. The highly trained team at Best Friends Fur Ever works in tandem with each dog’s primary care veterinarian or surgeon, following prescribed recovery protocols with precision. This includes structured potty breaks, strict crate rest when necessary, and detailed documentation of daily behaviors, eating habits, and bathroom cycles. This level of observation allows staff to identify subtle changes in a dog’s comfort or mobility and communicate proactively with both the pet parent and veterinarian.

The program has already proven successful in complex cases, including helping prevent a partial ACL tear from progressing to a full rupture through carefully managed restricted movement. In another case, the ACC+ team provided extended monitoring for a post–tumor removal patient whose owner worked full-time, ensuring the pet’s e-collar remained secure and the incision site stayed clean—helping to prevent common complications associated with unsupervised recovery at home.

The launch of the new website makes it easier for pet parents to determine whether ACC+ is the right fit for their dog. While the program is not a replacement for emergency medical care, it provides a supportive, controlled environment for dogs who are not yet ready for the activity level of traditional daycare but no longer require hospitalization.

Pet parents are encouraged to visit the new website to explore the full range of conditions supported by ACC+ and learn more about the resort-style amenities at Best Friends Fur Ever’s Cockeysville location.
