Cockeysville resident Debbie Beshear was named a grand-prize winner in Hilton Garden Inn's 'Life's Ultimate To-Do List' Contest, giving her the opportunity to travel to New York City with her mother.

The hotel chain ran a contest on its Facebook page from Aug. 8 through Sept. 2 inviting participants to submit their ultimate travel 'to-do' dream. Beshear and 11 other winners were selected out of 2,600 entries, according to a press release.

In her submission entitled "NYC Tour with my Mom," Beshear describes her widowed mother's desire to visit The Big Apple.

"I would love to take my Mom on a tour of NYC. After being widowed last month after taking care of her sick husband at home for the past year, my 71 year old Mom really deserves a break. She has never been to NYC and this is actually on her bucket list more than mine! It would be great to escort her to a Broadway show, visit Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Grand Central Park, and to just experience the atmosphere of NYC. And what better place to stay than the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square!"

Beshear and her mother Mary Hooks will receive a 3-day and 2-night trip to New York City worth approximately $5,000 with round-trip airfare and accommodations included, according to the release. In addition, the pair will receive spending money to see a Broadway play and more.

“We were so impressed with the quantity and quality of entries that we received, especially with Debbie’s entry. While many consumers expressed a strong spirit of wanderlust, Debbie’s entry really stood out for devotion to her care-taking mother who has never been to New York City, and we look forward to giving her the incredible opportunity to check off her ultimate to-do list item,” Judy Christa-Cathey, vice president of global brand marketing for Hilton Garden Inn, said in the release.
