CSA Site Host Information Session

ORGANIC FARMERS’ CO-OP SEEKS VOLUNTEERS TO HOST CSA DELIVERIES

Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative (LFFC) is recruiting volunteers to host weekly deliveries of fresh, organic produce to neighborhoods in the Baltimore, MD area. LFFC is a non-profit organic farmers’ cooperative based in Lancaster County, PA that serves individuals and families through its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Members of the program purchase a subscription before the season begins, helping to support the farm operation when start-up costs are highest and farm income is at its lowest. In return for their investment, members receive a weekly box of fresh, nutritious, high quality produce at an affordable price from a source they can trust.

For those interested in hosting a weekly CSA pick-up site at their home or business, LFFC is holding its “Site Host Information Session” event for the upcoming 2012 CSA season at a current pick-up site. The event will feature a presentation by staff, farmers, and CSA site hosts. Afterwards, a question and answer session will provide a forum for discussion. The event will be held on February 9, 2012, from 6:30 to 8pm at the Washington Community Fellowship, 907 Maryland Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002. This event is open to current and prospective volunteers who are enthusiastic about supporting local, sustainable family farmers and widening access to fresh, organic produce in their communities.
