Hereford Cross Country Sweeps Competition at Barnhardt Invitational
The football and girls' soccer teams were also successful this past week.

The Hereford High School boys and girls varsity cross country teams swept their respective races in Saturday's Barnhardt Cross Country Invitational at Dulaney High School.
Among the varsity girls, Erin Causey, Sara Carter, Emily Vandewater, Lauren Kennedy, Meghan Anderson, Emily Randall and Susan Tenberg placed fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, 10th and 18th respectively as the Hereford Bulls overcame Baltimore County rival and runner-up Dulaney, 35-56, despite a second-place finish by the Dulaney Lions' Isabel Griffth in 20 minutes, five seconds. A lower score denotes a higher ranking.
Causey, Carter and Vandewater finished in 20:30, 20:33 and 20:47 respectively.
Loch Raven High School's Emily Ruppel won the overall girls title in 19:50.
For the Hereford varsity boys, Kevin Collins, Kevin Payne, Julian Rivera, Jonathan Luckin, Gabriel Rivera, Zach Spencer and Ben Voltron were eighth, ninth, 10th, 14th, 22nd, 61st and 83rd respectively, as the Bulls edged runner-up Loyola Blakefield High School, 63-68. The Loyola Dons' Kevin Corbusier took first place in 16:10.
Collins and Payne finished in 16:39, and, 16:42, respectively.
Bulls' Football Bounces Back Big
The Bulls varsity football team opened play in Baltimore County's 3A-4A League by defeating Woodlawn High School, 42-0, on Friday night.

The team rebounded from a season-opening 28-23 loss to North Harford High School, a game that was tied at halftime, 14-14.
Hereford's Mike Swiger ran for 67 yards and touchdowns of one and six yards. Richard Lee had a team-high 89 rushing yards and a four-yard scoring run. Ryan Jones covered 54 yards and scored from a yard out, and Will Bittner and Jay Patti each ran for one touchdown.
Patti also made two interceptions, and Andrew Fisher converted all six of his extra points for the Bulls.
Chris Vallaincourt registered two sacks, and there was also one each from Patrick Wetzelberger, Mike Amon and Austin Brown.

The Bulls led, 28-0, at halftime. The decision even the Bulls' record to 1-1 on the year and 1-0 in the league, and dropped the Warriors to 1-1, 0-1.
Swiger now has three touchdowns on the year, Jones has rushed for two scores and passed for a third, and Fisher is 9-for-9 on extra points in two games.
On Friday, the Bulls visit Class 3A state runner-up Franklin High School (1-1, 1-0), which came from behind in last week's 13-2 victory over Eastern Tech High School (0-1, 0-1).
Girls Soccer Claims Triumph Over Roland Park Country School
The Bulls' girls' varsity soccer team, coached by Nancy Ferguson, claimed a 3-2 victory over Roland Park Country School on Thursday.
Sadie O'Neill scored once, assisted on the first of two goals by Abby Noble. She also received an assist from Sarah Ashwood.
The Bulls led 2-0 before their rivals tied the game in the second half. Noble's second goal on a breakaway with six minutes remaining was the game-winner.
