Hunt Valley Church Seeks Rezoning Approval

The request was filed to accommodate a larger congregation, according to a church representative.

has filed a request with the Baltimore County Planning Office to change the zoning of its property to accommodate a larger congregation.

"It's no secret that we're growing," said Mike Batley, executive director for the church.

The Falls Road Community Association reported on its website that some of the church's neighbors contacted the group to share their concerns about the church's possible expansion.

Batley said that he has also heard some complaints, but Hunt Valley Church is hosting meetings with neighbors to keep them informed about the zoning request.

"We want to be good neighbors in this process," Batley said.

The community association has also stated on its website that, "The church has informed its neighbors, via a letter, of its intention to double the size of the building on the 26.57-acre church property."

But Batley said there aren't any immediate plans for changes on the property. Because previous attempts to rezone were unsuccessful, he said, the church's leadership is waiting on approval before making any decisions.

"We've been down this road before," Batley said.

A phone call seeking comment from the Falls Road Community Association was not immediately returned.
