LifeBridge Health Welcomes John C. Downs, M.D., to the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute

Patients with cancer have the opportunity to receive comprehensive care in one place with one team of compassionate experts.

Baltimore, MD – John C. Downs, M.D., has joined the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute at LifeBridge Health. Dr. Downs brings more than 30 years of experience as a medical oncologist and a hematologist. His clinical areas of interest include lymphoma, myeloma, benign hematology, and breast and colon cancers.

Dr. Downs’ practice is located at the Mays Chapel Medical Care Center at 12221 Tullamore Road in Lutherville-Timonium. The center offers a wide variety of medical services for patients, not always available in one convenient office location. They include IV iron preparations, chemotherapy infusion, immune globulins infusion, monoclonal antibodies, and blood count and blood growth factor work.

Dr. Downs earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Virginia, which is part of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Additionally he was a clinical research fellow in oncology and hematology at the University of Maryland Cancer Center in Baltimore.

He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Med-Chi. His clinical research involvement has included SWOG, a cancer research cooperative group, and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project.
