Oregon Ridge Hosts Woodland Health Series
The series was organized by Forestry for the Bay, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and other environmental groups.

Starting mid-April, is hosting a three session workshop focusing on woodland health.
The workshop is geared toward central Maryland landowners, according to a news release from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Topics covered will include native and invasive plant species, wildlife habitat projects and converting lawn to natural areas.
Other issues that hurt the woodland ecosystem are a high deer population and sprawling development, the release states.

"Trees provide us with drinking water, clean air, habitat for wildlife, recreational opportunities, enhanced aesthetics and higher home values," said Craig Highfield, manager of Forestry for the Bay, which is sponsoring the series, in the release. "These workshops are designed to provide the region’s landowners with the knowledge and opportunities to help them care for this vital natural resource."
The sessions will take place on the evenings of April 15, May 2 and May 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Each session costs $5 and interested residents can participate in the sessions of their choosing.
