Valley View Farms is offering a $300 gift card to the person who submits the closest guess.
We all know that can get really big. But 1,176 pounds?
, located at 11035 York Road in Cockeysville, is holding a contest for locals to guess the number of seeds in its 1,176-pound monstrosity.
You can submit your guess at the garden center and nursery during store hours, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. The person with the closest guess will receive a $300 gift card to Valley View. Second and third places will receive a $200 and $100 gift card respectively. In the event of multiple winners, the earliest entry will receive the prize.

The pumpkin will be cut open and its seeds counted on Nov. 5 at noon. Guesses can be submitted up until the seed counting begins.
Manager Tim McQuaid offered an exclusive hint for Patch readers.

"It's not as many seeds as you'd think it is," McQuaid said. "Some people have guessed in the past that there are millions. It's not that high."
has held the pumpkin seed-counting contest for more than 20 years. In addition to the ginormous pumpkin, several other huge pumpkins, decorated pumpkins and other fall squash and a 130-pound watermelon are on display.
