SHA to Host Meeting on I-83 Bridge Replacement
The State Highway Administration wants to start work on replacing the bridge over Middletown Road in summer of 2012.
The state wants to discuss plans to replace a deteriorating bridge on Interstate 83 over Middletown Road in Parkton with residents and commuters.
The will host a public informational meeting about the upcoming project on Nov. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Prettyboy Elementary School in Freeland, according to a new release.
The bridge replacement is scheduled to start in early summer 2012, and conclude in late fall 2013. Officials said the bridge, which was constructed in 1957, is structually safe but showing signs of decay. Plans also include adding a westbound lane along Middletown Road in the interchange area.

The two existing lanes of Middletown Road bridge are expected to remain open to traffic but up to 60 parking spaces at the Park and Ride lot will be closed during construction, according to the press release.
