Cockeysville Man Charged In Dad's Murder: Police

Officials say a 38-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his father.

COCKEYSVILLE, MD — Police said a man was killed in Cockeysville Sunday afternoon in what is being investigated as a domestic-related homicide. The victim's son, who was suspected in the slaying, turned himself in to Baltimore County police, officials reported Sunday night.

William Leonard Howard Jr., 38, of the 14000 block of Cuba Road, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Police allege he killed his father — William Leonard Howard, 63, of the unit block of Millstone Road.

The shooting took place after the father and son got into an argument, which escalated when the son went to the basement to retreat, and his father went to check on him, officials reported.

The younger Howard shot his father multiple times, then left in his pickup truck, according to police.

Other family members in the home at the time called 911 before 3:30 p.m., police said. However, the father went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The son turned himself in to authorities at the Cockeysville precinct hours later, at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov 18, according to police.

He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
