Talk this Sunday on Immigration to Baltimore in the 19th Century

Local historian Wayne Schaumburg will be at the County Historical Society on Sunday to share his research on immigration.

The Historical Society of Baltimore County is pleased to host another of its Sunday Speakers events this coming Sunday, "19th Century Baltimore: A City of Immigrants," a talk by Wayne Schaumburg. Mr. Schaumburg, a retired Baltimore County Schools History teacher and avid fan of the history of Baltimore City and County, has done extensive research and has a large collection of newspaper articles, drawings, photographs, and postcards on Baltimore locations, events and persons of interest. In his April 17th talk at the Historical Society, he will discuss the immigrants who crossed the Atlantic, landed in Baltimore and made it their home.

Recent talks in the Historical Society's Sunday Speakers series have featured the history of Warren, the submerged town under the Loch Raven Reservoir, the history of Cockeysville, and the global history of herbs and spices, a lecture by a former employee of McCormick & Co. In coming months, renowned County Historian John McGrain will discuss highlights from his decades-long photographic career and Historical Society researcher Kathy Aspden will look at the history of Owing Mills.
