VIDEO: Highlights from the Green Spring Valley Point to Point
Event served as a warm-up for bigger steeplechase competitions ahead.
Despite chilling temperatures, intermittent rain and biting winds, loyal horse enthusiasts and their families came out to the at Shawan Downs to kick off the Baltimore County steeplechase season.
Bundled up in warm clothing and blankets, attendees, many holding steaming cups of coffee, hot cocoa and soup, enjoyed flat and timber races featuring children, novice and seasoned riders.
The event was put on by the Green Spring Valley Hounds and was co-chaired by Charles Fenwick III and Alexandra Smith.

"It's a great starting race for horses early in the season. It gets them fit," Smith said. "It's also fun for the guests. It's a good all around family day."
