Water, water everywhere

Chug-a-lug! Stay hydrated--even in the colder months--to optimize weight loss.

I posted this photo to my Facebook page this morning with the comment, “Oh water app. I heart your false cheer.” It prompted a friend to reply, “100 ounces of water a day?! Omigosh, I hardly drink 16.”

It’s true–most days, I hit the 100 ounce mark on my water-tracking app. At first, it was super hard to get there. I always drank some water throughout the day, but never anywhere near as much as I’m sipping now.

But on my quest for clean eating, water is pretty much the only thing I drink anymore. I’ve always got one of my trusty Tervis cups with me wherever I go (even on the weekends when I’m out and about and have to make reluctant trips to public restrooms).

Diet Coke is my remaining vice, but I’ve successfully held myself to one a week if we go out to dinner on the weekend (and it still tastes really, really good to me). I might have a glass of wine each week, too, but that was never something I overindulged in, so I don’t see it as a sacrifice at all.

Now, ditching my daily morning coffee with half-and-half? THAT felt like a huge sacrifice in the beginning. It’s funny to me now that I hardly miss it. I’ve even lost my gold status on my Starbucks card since I’m just not going there much anymore. I miss the taste of coffee more than the kick, which surprises me, and there’s always decaf for that.

So yes, I really do drink 100 ounces of water each day. And if I can up my water intake and cut the other junky stuff, you can, too.
