• Maryland Man Convicted in $6M Multi-State Vehicle Theft Scheme (meigsindypress.com) — A Hyattsville man has been convicted in a multi-state vehicle theft and fraud scheme involving more than 150 stolen cars worth over $6 million. Federal prosecutors say the group used stolen identities, cloned key fobs, and tow trucks to take vehicles from dealerships and neighborhoods, with sentencing set for January 2027.
   

• Indian Head Could Lose State Aid Over Missing Audit Reports (thebaynet.com) — Hyattsville is among several Maryland local governments warned they could lose 20% of certain state aid if overdue financial audits aren't filed by October 31, 2026. While the report centers on Indian Head, it flags Hyattsville as also delinquent, meaning local highway user revenues or disparity grants could be temporarily cut until reports are submitted.
