šŸ“° News we're reading

• Gene's Costumes reopens in Kensington in time for Halloween (mymcmedia.org) — Gene's Costumes on Connecticut Avenue has reopened in Kensington nearly three years after an electrical fire forced the beloved shop to close. Owner Ginger Ager has restored much of the 40-year costume inventory, and the store is now open with expanded evening hours planned in late October to help neighbors gear up for Halloween.

• Transit Briefs: TEXRail, MARC (railwayage.com) — Kensington commuters now have a faster MARC rail option, with new weekday express service linking the town directly to Baltimore and other Montgomery County stations without a Washington transfer. The route cuts some travel times roughly in half and includes a six‑month $2 promotional discount, making rail more competitive with driving for regional trips.
