In 29 of Nation's Top 50 Busiest Airports, Verizon Offers Best Wireless Network for Travelers

Staying Connected on Your Smartphone or Tablet At the Airport Is A Must for Some Travelers

Hundreds of millions of us travel by air every year, encountering airports we like and those we work hard to avoid. The factors that influence our airport preferences range from good food options, to fast security lines, to free charging stations, to ample seating at the gate.

But another factor which influences our airport preferences and choices is emerging -- strong and reliable data performance from mobile networks. With mobile access prevented during flights, time spent in the terminal is often a chance when travelers use their phones to catch up on work, stay connected with social media, and find entertainment while waiting for boarding to start.

To help determine which mobile networks and airports offer first-class performance, RootMetrics, an independent network testing firm, conducts performance studies at the nation’s 50 busiest airports. Having just concluded its first-half 2015 airport study, RootMetrics found that Verizon Wireless ranked #1 at 29 of the Top 50 US airports, including Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, which ranked 12th best in terms of mobile performance. The research firm notes that “Verizon’s reliability was stellar.”
