Celebrate Laurel Being Named A Tree City USA For The 29th Straight Year On April 27

Laurel city officials are planning a celebration and tree planting to recognize the community being named a Tree City USA for the 29th year.

LAUREL, MD — For the 29th consecutive year, Laurel has been named a Tree City USA. Officials are planning a celebration April 27 at the Gude Mansion.

To recognize the achievement, officials will be planting a wye oak tree on the grounds of the recently renovated mansion located at 13910 Laurel Lakes Ave. at 11 a.m.

To achieve the Tree City designation every year, the following four criteria must be met:

  • Have a tree board or department;
  • Have a tree care ordinance;
  • Create an annual community forestry budget; and
  • Hold an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
