Accused Howard Co. Murderer Arrested In North Carolina: Police

The accused murderer of a Howard County man has been arrested in North Carolina and is being held until extradition, police say.

WILMINGTON, NC — A suspect in the murder of 19-year-old William Riley of Howard County has been arrested in North Carolina, according to a press release from the City of Laurel. Steven Jerome Clark, Jr., 18 is in custody and awaiting extradition to Maryland.

Riley was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a car in the 15800 block of Millbrook Lane in Laurel on April 24, 2018, the press release said. His death was ruled a homicide. Five days later, police obtained a warrant for Clark's arrest.

Multiple law enforcement agencies work together to find Clark in the home of a family member on Queen Street in Wilmington, N.C., on May 21. He was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Police say he tried to run, but was "quickly apprehended." Clark was booked in North Carolina and is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
